Domain Protection is an additional layer of security for your domain. The product helps you better protect your domain against unauthorized transfers, accidental loss, and misuse.
Domain Protection consists of several protective features. These include transfer protection, a recovery service, and proof of ownership.
Who is Domain Protection suitable for?
Domain Protection is useful if your domain is especially important for your website, your email communication, or your brand.
The protection can be beneficial, for example, for business domains, company websites, online shops, project pages, or important private domains.
What features are included?
Domain Protection includes several protective features for your domain.
Transfer Protection
Transfer protection additionally secures the AuthCode of your domain. The AuthCode is required for transferring a domain to another provider.
With active transfer protection, the AuthCode is only visible after an additional approval via a security code. You will also be notified if there is an attempt to access the AuthCode.
Recovery Service
If a domain is lost without authorization or accidentally deleted, a recovery can be checked.
Whether recovery is possible depends on the status of the domain as well as the rules and deadlines of the responsible registry.
Proof of Ownership
With Domain Protection, you can obtain proof of ownership for your domain. This document can confirm that you are registered as the owner of the domain.
The proof includes, among other things, the domain name, the registered owner data, and the issue date.
What is the difference from normal domain management?
In normal domain management, you can manage your domain, edit DNS entries, and adjust domain-related settings.
Domain Protection supplements this management with additional security features. These especially include protected access to the AuthCode, the recovery service, and proof of ownership.
What is not included?
Domain Protection provides additional protection for your domain but does not take over general management of your domain or website.
Not included are, for example:
- content changes to your website
- technical work on your website
- changes to DNS entries by easyname
- a guarantee that a domain can be recovered in every case
- protection from issues caused by incorrect settings or lack of access security
